Bankside was the second building to be taken forward by Renaker Build Ltd as part of their Greengate Masterplan, their landmark mixed-use development located on the boundary between Salford and Manchester. The project consists of a 41-storey residential tower over a one and two storey podium. The tower incorporates 444 residential units in a mix of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments. Residents have access to a range of internal and external amenity spaces including the extensive, landscaped terrace at first floor level overlooking Collier Square and the historic Collier Street Baths. 1,300 sqm of ground floor commercial space provides sophisticated food and beverage outlets with external seating lining Colliers Square and the adjoining “Boulevard”, further animating this exciting new city destination. The main resident’s entrance is positioned directly off Collier Square offering a very prominent frontage to the development whilst greatly contributing to the daily activity in and around this key part of the public realm. The primary Tower form is designed as a tall, simple block that sits comfortably within the developing cluster of towers in Greengate. The residential accommodation within the Tower is arranged in a vertical sequence of four floor levels which are externally expressed as a series of distinctive horizontal layers. An individual irregular black grid feature is overlaid on top of each of these layers with a recessed black band incorporated on to the facade between each of the four storeys to enhance the sense of separation.
