Work: Play: Sleep [ repeat ] Conceived as a workplace, this little garden studio is fitted with a kitchenette, shower room and Murphy bed such that it could be used as a granny annex or a siesta space for an (knackered) architect. Affectionately termed 'The Bunker' the finished floor level has been dropped below the external grade level offering a low level perspective through the landscape. This serves to limit the impact of the development on the views of the neighbours whilst at the same time offering comfortable head height within. Inside the desk is constructed such that is roughly at grade level to again profit from that low level vantage point. The birch floor panels are raised above slab level to conceal some much-needed storage. The external rain screen material is untreated larch, which will eventually become a silver grey colour to complement the bright yellow of the Velfac window glazing system.
