New Build
Located in the Guangzhou-Foshan Intersected Core Area within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Julong Bay is a key hub for high-end industrial development along the Pearl River. As part of the "Old City Rejuvenation" urban renewal plan, this project focuses on redesigning the urban landscape by integrating key historical sites with modern infrastructure. A critical component of this regeneration is the Floating Dragon Bridge, a new pedestrian bridge designed to alleviate congestion on the adjacent Yuling Bridge, a listed historical structure. This new connection strengthens urban circulation while celebrating the area's industrial and cultural heritage. Masterplan & Historical Context The Julong Bay urban regeneration plan includes the Dachongkou Creek waterfront, stretching from Fangcun Avenue to the Pearl River, and features five key historical landmarks: Design Concept & Inspiration Inspired by the form of a dragon boat, the Floating Dragon Bridge appears to drift on water like a wrapped Zongzi leaf, symbolizing fluidity, resilience, and cultural continuity. The bridge design integrates the Xietonghe Factory Museum plaza with the new commercial zone, enhancing both pedestrian circulation and urban engagement. Recognition & Awards - International Competition Runner-up - Bronze A’ Design Award (2023-2024) – Spatial Design Category The Floating Dragon Bridge stands as a landmark of urban regeneration, demonstrating the power of architectural innovation to enrich public spaces, improve connectivity, and celebrate the historic and cultural essence of Guangzhou.
