The project provides an extensive remodelling of Parker Hannifin’s premises in Birtley. The project included the enhancement of the building envelope to create to a new entrance and to improve the visual appearance of the public face of the campus, internal remodelling to create open plan office spaces, new laboratories and storage areas, space planning, fitted furniture design and branding. The project was a traditional RIBA full service with architectural and interior design services. The project was delivered on an overall budget of £5.5m. BHA’s multi disciplinary team succeeded in transforming the building and the interior work environment into a co-ordinated design with a fresh and new brand identity. The design allows flexible working methods to be adopted and future proofs the building for changing business needs. The working environment has been transformed into light open space with interaction and connectivity between work teams encouraged through the introduction of a central mezzanine and lightwell circulation space. Flexible furniture arrangements provide different working and meeting options for staff. The introduction of light, space and colour has created attractive work spaces which are far removed from the previous working environment
