Marine Avenue is a conversion, refurbishment and extension of a Late Victorian townhouse in the resort town of Whitley Bay. The scheme restored the building to its original grandeur a single residence from its previous use as a nursing home. The scheme is set within the a conservation area. The design removed unsightly 1970s extensions to the sides and rear of the building. These were replaced with new extensions that are more in keeping with the original charcter of the building. The original features of the building both externally and internally were carefully restored. The end result is a building that significantly contributes to the character and identity of its setting.
