Alteration to existing property
Unit 17 Guest House Farm , Runshaw Lane , Euxton , Chorley , Lancashire , PR7 6HD , United Kingdom
The brief for this project was to transform an already beautiful Victorian property for modern living and additional bedroom space, respecting the original features while proposing a modern design that would not detract from the existing property. The single storey garage to the side was a recent addition by the previous owner, the internal spaces did not flow, having to pass through multiple other rooms to reach the kitchen, and the connection to the garden was minimal with a 400mm step down from a door within the utility space. Our proposals transformed the rear of the property, creating a 'open plan' kitchen, living, dining room that would still retain the option for separating the spaces as and when required. The step into the garden was resolved by creating an internal split level, helping to define the areas within the open plan, and providing a sitting area level to the garden, allowing the space to spill out onto the patio. To the first floor we proposed a side extension above the garage, creating a large master bedroom, complete with walk-in-wardrobe, en-suite and private inset balcony.
