New Build, Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, Sited in AONB, Within a Conservation Area
Complete restoration and two major new extensions have been added to a Victorian house overlooking Hope Cove. Originally designed as a sea captain's manor next to the sheltered cove, the whole house has been opened up to maximise daylight and the panoramic coastal views. The new two storey terracotta wing and copper clad garden room provide facilities for a significant family home. Works also included reconstruction of the Inner Hove / Mouthwell beach cliff face and wall. A major architectural / engineering task on the total edge to construct a stone coastal defence wall with integrated storm force dispersion weirs - working in collaboration with SW Coast path, Devon County Council, the local Parish and the National Trust. Internally, major environmental, thermal and ventilation improvements have been made to the house.
