The challenge: This Grade II* listed property, rich in architectural heritage, had suffered from unsympathetic alterations during the late 20th century and presented a number of structural challenges. Inappropriate modernisations had compromised its character, while key elements of the original layout and detailing had been lost or obscured. Our approach: Working closely with conservation officers and structural consultants, we sensitively addressed the building’s defects while removing incompatible additions. Historic features were reinstated where appropriate, and carefully considered alterations were introduced to support modern living without detracting from the building’s significance. The result: A respectful and robust restoration, blending heritage and functionality.
