YOU&ME and MAKESPACE are working with Tower Hamlets Council on the design of a new community building within the Wellington Housing Estate. The mixed-use scheme includes re-provision of the existing community hall and nursery together with outdoor spaces including a ball court, community garden, children’s playground and canal boat moorings. The project is being delivered alongside 14 new affordable homes. Our design takes on board feedback from a series of community engagement and co-design events that Y&M facilitated to encourage dialogue and discuss future scenarios for the use of the site. Engagement was anchored around 4 workshops that went through brief setting, developing design options and finally presenting the scheme for feedback prior to submitting for planning. This included mapping and model making co-workshops and was supported by leaflet drops, posters, canvassing, online blog and online survey.
