This pioneering low-energy refurbishment project was carried out for our sister company works property. It entailed the conversion of an office building in clerkenwell into a bakery at ground and basement level, with six apartments on the four upper floors. It is one of the first refurbishments of its type to be as energy-efficient as an equivalent new building. This was achieved with high levels of insulation, solar panels, low water usage, and a low energy electrical installation. The project construction cost was £600,000 and the works were completed in spring 2009.
