Our brief was for a new outstanding waterside home with outdoor swimming pool, boat house and creek studio, replacing a tired property with a new state of the art and highly performing home. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with sub-tropical landscaped gardens that slope to the water’s edge and access to the sailing waters of the Helford River near Helford, Falmouth and Flushing. The plan form of the house is based around 4 linear blocks that house the various functions of the house and have created a stunning roof plan, a bridge link connects the house to main entrance at first floor level and into a dramatic vaulted ceiling entrance hall. Working with our clients we provided architectural services for this project, including planning application, building regulations and construction drawings. Having interviewed several architects in Cornwall, appointing Gavin Woodford was a no brainier. Having worked with several over the years, he shines through his energetic and enthusiastic approach such that it was always a joy to meet with him. Professionally, his vast experience, attention to detail and design capability bowled us over. He nailed our 'West Indies style home that would look at home in Cornwall' at first pass, then proceeded with his extended team of professionals, to gain Planning approval also first time.
