Woldon and Linea Studio Interiors worked with the furniture designer, James Smith Designs, to transform Argal Home Farm, a Cornish former farmstead, into a vibrant place to live and work. The new farmhouse forms the client’s own home. The design emerged from a brief for a low energy family home which maintains the spirit of Argal farm, embodying a calmness and connecting with its natural landscape. The proposals are contemporary, but rooted in a rich Cornish vernacular of granite, slate and timber. Adaption of traditional details, often quite subtly, emphasises a sense of the new. The project is a further phase of Woldon’s work at Argal, following construction of a contemporary workshop and conversion of existing barns to form workspace. Argal Home Farm is a dynamic and creative collective of enterprising Cornish businesses.
