Listed Building - Grade II
The project consisted of the refurbishment of two existing adjacent buildings on New Bond Street to create the flagship Louis Vuitton Townhouse London store. We were selected from a short list compiled by the project manager and worked as executive architects. In the main this consisted of taking a concept design from an American designer and making it work from a construction, materials, buildability and regulations point of view. We also created the design concept for some of the areas in the store. Our client body was in Paris and we had some design team meetings there. We also had a considerable amount of liaison with the planners as the buildings were listed. Some materials were ususual such as goat skin wall tiles and a stainless steel with a titanium-gold finish assembly consisting of 330,000 separate pieces. We also had to detail several motorised fixture units for displaying merchandise.
