New Build, Within a Conservation Area
Our client was a joint venture between a development company and Dorset County Council. The project consisted of a housing development scheme for 22 units including flats, floodable houses, conventional houses and flats over garages for a site in a conservation area and also in a Flood Risk 2 zone. The site was in a conservation area. The floodable houses had a car port, raised hallway and external steps so that the entire ground floor could be flooded to a level just below the front door without damage, assuming that the cars were removed in advance. We were part of a full team including a planning consultancy, planning lawyer and planning barrister.
