New Build, Within a Conservation Area
Wilson Mason LLP , Upland House, Spring Lane , Samlesbury , PRESTON , Lancashire , PR5 0UX , United Kingdom
Wilson Mason were selected following an OJEU selection process for the Sustainable Expansion of the Applied Coastal and Marine Sectors (SEACAMS) project. The project provides a facility that promotes accessibility of academics lab expertise to business. In doing so it provides flexible, dynamic and multifunctional learning/ office spaces for all building users. The building will locate 4 research themes into the building with shared facilities. Wilson Mason proposed that the approach to the building take a strategic overview and create a new public face for the School and University’s Menai Bridge campus. The approach developed for the project through consultation will provide a high quality contemporary building that enhances the Menai Bridge conservation area. The brief calls for a BREEAM ‘excellent’ building and initial proposals show that the project is likely to exceed this, through the use of CLT timber.
