Reconfiguration and refurbishment of existing university Biological Sciences building, including biology laboratories, write-up areas, offices and ancillary spaces as well as the full modernisation of the 280 seat Darwin Lecture Theatre with multi-function ancillary spaces for entertainment/ teaching. The project was undertaken in three phases within an existing occupied building of six storeys with two basement levels in phased completions. The construction working hours, noise levels, occupant liaison and phasing periods were carefully set out in the contract to take into consideration the existing occupants continuing operational requirements, lectures, examinations and term times.
