Mayor fit out of a new eight storey signature store on the Olympic site, with a dedicated third floor events space for the Olympics, together with a flexible link with the Waitrose store and with the carpark zone below. The design was the first to develop new feature elements for the ceilings, lighting, internal glazed screens, finishes and shopfit and new John Lewis concept layouts for Menswear, Home Vision, Beauty Services, Consumer Electronics and CCP over four levels. The challenge was to incorporate these new elements in an existing shell, maximising productive areas without compromising the building’s use of natural daylight in spaces such as the entrance prow and the prominently located Events Space. The entire design and contracting team worked closely together to successfully deliver a new concept scheme which fulfilled these criteria. The project also included a new restaurant and Espresso Bar.
