A development of 40 houses on an edge of village site partially in a conservation area. The design aims to create a safe and friendly environment for residents, fostering a sense of ownership and community through active and well overlooked streets and squares. A narrow village street of closely packed houses picking up on local styles and details, resulting in a strong sense of place. A semi-natural open space provides newt habitat and amenity, surrounded by larger houses in a landscaped setting. An allotment is positioned behind the houses to limit access and provide overlooking to reduce theft and vandalism. The development brings redundant land on the edge of the village back into use, provides useful community benefits and allows the settlement to expand in a way that enhances the village character.
