New Forest
£250,000 to £499,999
Our client’s brief stipulated a traditional, formally designed extension that would sit comfortably within Lymington’s predominantly Georgian Conservation Area. The house replaces a 1960’s dwelling of low quality that failed to optimise this prominent corner plot with views to the Isle of Wight. High quality handmade bricks and clay roof tiles are utilised creating a pleasing and harmonious response to the historic context – and remarkably, the site was excavated to allow the construction of a full concrete basement, which accommodates the media room, gym, office and additional storage and plant. The project was initially refused planning permission but a convincing argument at Appeal overturned that refusal and the house has now been completed, with the clients very happy in their new home. Williams Lester provided architectural design services throughout, from initial concept sketches through to detailed technical designs.
