Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
The property is located within the Ferrings Estate, off College Road and within the Dulwich Estate. Ferrings dates from the early 1960’s and was designed by architects Victor Knight and Manfred Bresgen of Austin Vernon and Partners and built by Wates. The house is a single storey mid-terrace dwelling, part of a row of dwellings that comprise both single and two storeys cohesive in their common style and use of material. The houses are generous in plan and sensitively landscaped, and appreciated increasingly for their consistent 1960’s architectural features. The project sought to create an additional space by converting the existing double garage, and to provide an additional shower room space accessed from the existing external courtyard via a glazed lobby, with a secondary access. A new glass structure was introduced to link the main house and the new extension, with an internal brick faced wall and hidden door to the new shower room and utility area.
