Brewery Offices Fit-out for the Camden Town Brewery offices and main brewery Located in a railway arch, the design of these offices for a brewery references the early twentieth-century work of Adolf Loos—particularly his Viennese shop fit-outs. The interior is most specifically reminiscent of the timber-paneled interior of the 1913 Knize menswear store. Where Loos’s project incorporates a vivid green linoleum floor and staircase, the brewery offices feature a grey vinyl floor and staircase, and bright red ceilings. The ceiling under the mezzanine is rectilinear, but the main ceiling is curved—a necessity of the railway arch turned into a virtue of the project, recalling the barrel-vaulted form of Loos’s Steiner and Horner Houses. The mezzanine arrangement maximises the floor area for desks, while also adding spatial interest and making the most of the unusual characteristics of the project’s challenging refurbishment site. The material palette references the branding of the brewery’s packaging and beer, produced next door.
