We were appointed to convert and extend a 19th Century barn in an area of greenbelt land in Oxfordshire. The client wanted to transform this traditional building into a contemporary family home, meeting level 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, whilst at the same time conserving its historical identity and integrity. We designed a connected series of living spaces that join the barn and extension. From the approach to the house, the extension blends into the existing building, whilst on the opposing façade, large glazed panels create a more contemporary aesthetic and open up breath taking views of the adjacent lake.
