We were approached to modernise and extend an existing 1960’s housing block in South East London, adding additional properties and increasing both parking and green amenity spaces. The client wanted to establish a new identity for the development, referencing the look and feel of the surrounding area in a contemporary way. Our design focused on the creation of an additional storey and new garden areas towards the rear of the complex. Traditional brickwork formed the lower half of the building, while the materials and form of the upper half provided an exciting re-interpretation of the locality. The new upper floors were composed of an anodized metal and glass structure, with aluminum balconies dividing the separate units.
