Brownfield site
WW+P were commissioned to design a high quality mixed use development across two separate brownfield blocks in Camberwell, SE4. A smaller additional block situated in the same urban block but between the two other proposals for another client is also considered as part of this project. Each proposal consists of commercial accommodation on the ground floor, with a mix of one, two and three bed residential units on the upper floors. Communal and private amenity space is incorporated through landscaped roof terraces and balconies. The development is car-free but does integrate vehicle servicing and disabled parking at ground level. Block 1 is considered the most important as it offers the opportunity to reinstate enclosure to the north west corner of Camberwell Green.Ground floor glazed shopfronts re-establish connectivity with pedestrians with a two storey brick plinth above responding to the height of the street frontage along the road. 66 residential units are proposed in total. The project is on site and due for completion in 2017.
