Vale of Glamorgan

£50,000 to £99,999
Single story rear kitchen extension and internal alterations to this 3 bed bungalow. The property is a detached 1960’s bungalow on a generous plot with a West facing garden. The existing kitchen and dining have been knocked together and a new micro extension clad in black thermopine opens up views onto the garden. Because of the westerly aspect the extension roof features an overhang and projecting cheeks. These help shade the interior and help control the low summer sun. The underside of the soffit and the inside face of the cheeks are clad in larch to contrast with the external black thermopine. Full height doors provide access onto the garden The existing glazing to the lounge has been reduced and a new picture window with projecting reveals has been added. These reveals are also being used as shading. Currently the house’s front door is situated on the side elevation, as part of the internal alterations this is being relocated to the front elevation. The loft insulation has been upgraded as part of the roof works and new windows and doors throughout will help reduce heat loss and will improve airtightness. The house’s main roof also feature a 13 panel PV array to maximize on site renewables. The garden has been relandscaped to attract wildlife and features a large pond. Rainwater is collected in large water butts to help with irrigation and plants have been chosen to be resilient. This project is nearing completion and photos will be taken in the spring once the landscaping is completed.
