Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade I, Listed Building - Grade II, New Build, Sited in AONB, Within a Conservation Area
WDPK Architects Ltd , 10 Haycroft Road , Surbiton , Surrey , KT6 5AU , United Kingdom
The barn located within a conservation area, the brief was to convert a derelict barn, partly connected to two one farm houses, already converted and extended into a single dwelling. Work entailed stripping the barn back to it's timber frame, before re-cladding, the new layout, resulted in cutting one of the five timber king trusses to form openings, and links to the existing house. Refer to photographs for images of construction, right up to competition. Other projects worked on, include Garde I listed, Listed, English heritage, conservation and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to new and existing properties over a 42 year (30 years post RIBA qualification) career. Work areas include Wales (National Parks - Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia & Pembrokeshire National Parks), Central London, Surrey, Buckinghamshire & Sussex. Internationally, works include protected areas in Praha Czech Republic, and currently Korinthos region of Greece (area with archaeological protection) generated through connections in these countries. With the mindset to continue to learn everyday, new projects & experiences present challenges, something I enjoy, note having picked up projects failed by others.
