Th project included the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new family home designed around the needs of the owners. The property is a large site within the Greenbelt in West Horsley, Surrey. The new house takes the form of a single storey property oriented to take in the views down the garden and beyond. The applicants were keen that there are no stairs so that all the rooms are fully accessible and allowing for generous floor to ceiling heights throughout to make the space as bright and airy as possible. The house is entered through a covered porch from the front into a generous entrance hall, which has views through to the extensive garden beyond. The heart of the house is large open plan kitchen living room, with floor to ceiling sliding doors, again allowing uninterrupted views of the garden. This room leads to all the other rooms; a more formal drawing room and study to the garden side with the bedrooms to the front of the property.
