The design takes an existing bungalow and repurposes much of the existing structure to form a new 2 storey house. The proposal adopts a low impact sustainable approach resulting in a contemporary and economic solution. To achieve this the proposal consists of retaining and up-cycling much of the ground floor structure, adding a second floor in lieu of the roof and extending south east with a double height volume to form an open plan kitchen living and dining space. The new layout increases natural daylight within and is designed to take advantage of the surrounding views and inherent qualities of the site.
