New Build
In 2009 Walters & Cohen was approached by Bam Construction to design a scheme for Regent High School, a secondary school on a confined urban site in Somers Town, London. This urban regeneration project was one of the last to be funded under the Building Schools for the Future initiative. The design responds to the school’s education vision, providing a variety of teaching and learning spaces within the confines of a tight urban site. The footprint of the new building has been kept to a minimum, giving students a variety of outdoor learning and social spaces. Access has been improved and the main entrance re-positioned, improving the streetscape and raising the profile of the school within the community it serves.
