Leicester
Listed Building - Grade II*, Within a Conservation Area, Alteration to existing property
This building has been described as ‘the most important house in the city’ by the Local Authority and associated Planning consultants. Situated in the heart of Leicester the property is within the Greyfriars Conservation Area and sits at the foot of the city’s cathedral. Wyggeston House is a Grade II* listed building and is owned by Leicester City Council. It consists of three important historical architectural elements; Tudor, Georgian and Victorian. The main feature being the fantastic Tudor screen which links the Georgian and Victorian elements of the building. Walters Architects are proud to have been asked to work on a building of such local significance; we dealt with the planning application for a Change of Use, Listed Building Consent and a Building Control application. The Practice worked extremely hard with the Local Authority, Historical Building Experts, Planning Consultants, Conservation teams and Heritage England to deliver the clients requirements for the building in a sympathetic and considered way.
