Listed Building - Grade II*, New Build, Scheduled Ancient Monument, Within a Conservation Area
York House , Station Road , Tadcaster , North Yorkshire , LS24 9JF , United Kingdom
A replacement extension to a Grade II* listed Georgian dwelling in the heart of York, within a Conservation Area. The design carefully consideres the existing context, including the listed dwelling and historic Bar Walls of York (Ancient Scheduled Monument) that form the property boundary to provide a modest and contemporary extension to the rear Ground Floor. The design considers a replacement 'box' in form, removing a poorly considered 1980's rear extension. The new brick volume lightly touches the existing property through glazed links, providing high levels of natural light into the extension and existing floorplate.
