Located just outside of the historic city of Winchester, the Northbrook Arms is a countryside public house with spacious grounds. Like many public houses across the country, the business model was reconsidered to ensure that the facilities could remain operational. UX Architects worked with the client and other stakeholders to develop proposals for retaining the existing public house and transforming the existing building stock into boutique guest accommodation and leisure facilities. The proposals seeked to retain the charm and character of the existing skittle alley and barns with sensitive contemporary additions to accommodate the new dining area and restaurant facilities. The full glazed rear dining extension ensures that the historic fabric is unaltered and appreciated. The new exposed oak framed and glazed spa building is situated to the north of the existing buildings and hosts luxury treatment rooms, gymnasium, indoor swimming pool and spa facilities.
