As a great admirer of Georgian architecture, Urban & Rural were delighted to secure the commission for the proposed works to this Grade II Listed property. The client’s brief was to have a modern extension to contrast with the existing property, providing a large open-plan kitchen family room, with a good connection to the private rear walled garden. We worked with the glass specialists and have developed a solution using glass structural elements to support the glass walls and roof to get the simple elegant solution we were looking for. The final design has glass structural beams spanning 5.5m loading down on to glass structural posts. We have successfully secured full planning and listed building consent for the proposed works, coordinated a consultant team and produced a fully detailed construction, working drawing package to allow a contractor to tender for the project and erect the complex structure.
