NEW REAR EXTENSION WITH TWISTED COLUMNS TO A TRADITIONAL TERRACED HOUSE Described as 'beautiful pile of twisted, torqued brickwork' by the FT, 'an amazing domestic extension' by the Evening Standard, 'wins marks for originality' by the Guardian and 'more like urban mess' by an online commentator The building pushes the boundaries of brick construction as it employs an experimental approach to brick laying whilst upholding the traditional materiality of London’s terrace houses. The small extension not only breathes new life into the North London plot but also acts as a celebration of the past, present and future through its innovation to the timeless construction material. The intervention consists of a living space at ground floor level as well as shower and utility spaces at basement level and is designed to improve connections between the house and its garden to the rear. The project has been shortlisted for the Don't Move, Improve Awards 2020 as well as the Brick Awards 2019 in the "Innovation" Category. It has also been featured in Dezeen magazine, Homes and Property newsletter, Guardian and the Financial Times
