Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
Pigment House is a four-story residence built into a steep hillside in North London. Unknown Works transformed the landscape into a unique architectural feature of the living space. To allow light into the rear of the home, Unknown Works excavated the steep back garden and cast a concrete retaining wall that also creates dynamic courtyard spaces, stairs, seating, and an outdoor kitchen. Inside, Unknown Works refurbished the entire home and redesigned the ground level, including floor-to-ceiling storage and a cantilevered steel staircase. The kitchen is fit with handmade sawn oak cabinetry. Engineered glass beams support the full-width glass roof extension.
