Alterations to front of property consisted in, in keeping with period of property, introducing new windows with a sloped lightwell allowing natural light into basement to reduce the need for electric lighting. Alterations to rear of property consisted in 1950’s and 1970’s windows to be replaced with windows which were more in keeping with the original period of the property. The roof height to the existing two storey lean was raised to allow more headroom to what were very low height spaces, and the two storey lean was extended slightly to allow more floorspace and to formalise the rear elevation. The rear extension was rendered externally to identify the new construction. The remaining construction was made in reclaimed bricks from the removed area of the existing wall. Openings were enlarged, again to allow more natural daylight and to reduce the need for electric lighting.
