The scheme consists of part new build, part refurbishment of the existing Princes Park Surgery on Bentley Road in Princes Park, L8. The old surgery has been re-modelled and a new wing built. The building is mainly single storey in height (with a small 2-storey area to the end of the existing wing). The roof is to be replaced entirely and will consist of a 10o duo-pitch (finished with a single ply membrane roof design). The construction to the new build is traditional brick and block, with some steelwork around the main waiting area. The roof design is trussed rafters. The new external walls are facing brickwork to match the existing, with small areas of HPL cladding. Some areas of the existing walls will be overclad with the same HPL boards. The project was completed on time, on budget, and has been extremely well received by the PCT, the GPs and end users. The new health centre (consisting of part new build and part refurbishment) vastly improves on the previous healthcare facilities and ensures the delivery of first class healthcare to the local community for years to come.
