Alteration to existing property
EG2 Norway Wharf , 24 Hertford Road , London , London , N1 5QT , United Kingdom
The client is the renowned photographer, publisher and film director, Rankin. Completed in November 2009, the scheme involved the conversion of an existing warehouse building into a photography studio, offices and 12 residential units at Grafton Road, Kentish Town, London. The scheme retains the existing 1960s concrete framed building with the addition of two further floors of lightweight structure. The ground floor (area 435 m2 ), the former storage area for the warehouse, contains his photography studio, utilising the 4m high ceilings. A gallery to display works by Rankin and other artists fronts onto Grafton Road with full height glazing to replace the existing loading bays. The first floor contains 345m2 of office space to house the Rankin Photography and Publishing organisation. The second, third & fourth floors contain 12 residential units including a penthouse for the client.
