This project is about building and sustaining the community in East Oxford. The bid design for, Oxford Community Land Trust (OCLT) proposes to build 24 mixed-tenure homes with half being permanently affordable. To facilitate this, the Irving Building will be retrofitted to contain six apartments, and a new terrace of six homes will be build on an adjacent street. The proposal offers a radically different approach to the standard development model and builds on neighbourliness and well being from the start. The project proposed to be built from a high quality sustainable fabric first approach which will ensure lower running costs for individual residents and lower impact on local infrastructure.
