tp bennett were appointed to provide strategic briefing, workplace analysis, and space budgeting for all PwC business units and facilities to be based in the building, providing accommodation for almost 4,500 staff working on over 3,100 desks on a highly flexible occupancy ratio of 1:1.45. We completed a full base build refurbishment, on behalf of the landlord, of the iconic Terry Farrell air rights building above Charing Cross station, including plant and infrastructure, lifts, WCs, internal cladding, scenic lifts and stair, Cat A, external terraces, and envelope remedial works. Full fit out design over 10 levels for PwC was delivered, from concept to detail design and construction packages, providing facilities including client meeting & dining rooms, practice floors, reception, meeting & seminar rooms, staff restaurant, entrance lobby, cyclists facilities, and Tri-gen plant. tp bennett also monitored the construction works, carried out in two phases in an occupied building, whilst maintaining live services and operations. Working with the client and contract team, we succeeded in achieving a highly sustainable refurbishment, including tri-generation plant to provide combined heat, power, and cooling (the plant is run on biodiesel produced from used chip fat). The project was awarded BREEAM Outstanding rating – the first refurbishment of this scale to achieve this.
