Replacing an existing pre-war tandem garage, the inspiration for this new out-building is taken from the Edwardian boathouses lining the Thames – a few miles downstream in Henley. Using salvaged red stock bricks the new building provides garaging for 2 – 3 cars, storage for boats and trailers and has 2no large studio / workshops over. The larger studio has an indented balcony over-looking the mature house gardens and the River Thames. Sited in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty it was important to reference the traditional working buildings and boathouses that contribute to the unique character of this location.
