New Forest National Park Authority
Brownfield site, New Build
The new build house is a replacement for a former bungalow which did not take advantage of the views across to the New Forest. The owner is well known to the Practice as they had been a client on a number of successful educational projects over the previous 10 years. The size of development was restricted by planning laws to being marginally larger than the previous dwelling, so every square meter of space is maximised, and projecting bay windows and roof terraces used to provide additional space without contravening planning requirements. The house comprises zinc clad pavilions containing the primary rooms such as master bedroom, living, dining and kitchen which are linked by flat roof rendered elements containing guest bedrooms, study and ancillary accommodation. Large windows take advantage of the stunning views across the New Forest to the west and garden paddock to the east.
