The project involved the upgrade of the upgrade the coffee shop, meeting rooms and social spaces to the University of Southampton Science Park main management building, 2 Venture Road. The site is located within and around the main entrance to the building which needed to remain open at all times as the facility is available to tenants 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The work was split into two phases, the ground floor containing coffee shop and social spaces forming the first phase, and the second phase including new meeting facilities and further social spaces and utilises electric switchable glass to offer privacy when required. Great care was taken to mitigate impact on the tenants so much of the more disruptive works were undertaken at weekends and evenings to minimise inconvenience.
