Listed Building - Grade II
The Foundry , 1 Adelaide Grove , LONDON , London , W12 0JU , United Kingdom
Before conversion the volumes within the highly articulated picturesque roof composition of this late nineteenth century Norman Shaw-esquen estate building were concealed behind numerous small cottagey rooms, many with difficult angles and restricted head heights. The owner was persuaded to open up the internal volumes to create aseries of linked contemporary spaces leaving the listed exterior, valued only for its presence as part of a group of similar buildings, intact.Floors internally are of stone and timber. Window walls were lined to allow the installation of motorised solar control and black out blinds;there are no curtains. The building is heated and cooled (when necessary) by a ground source heat pump linked to an under floor heating system.
