The Engine House and associated bothy on the estate had been abandoned yet retained within them a large well, historic pumping equipment and a range of ancient machinery. A good deal of work eventually made possible a building project which joined the two existing buildings together with a new link, gently conserving the interiors and making them suitable for training and exhibition purposes and public benefit, in conjunction with other visitor facilities.
