The Rex building, a residential scheme of 12 apartments and a single family home located at an urban infill site in South London, drew inspiration from Victorian townhouses in the vicinity of the site. One of the design challenges was to place a residential building adjacent to a main road and within a very mixed urban context. Starting with the proportions of neighbouring properties we folded the volume to create oblique views away from the busy road.
