Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
St John's Orchard used to be a derelict Victorian convent that has been re-imagined as 4 luxury townhouses - blending the historic with the new. A bespoke architectural language was created for the project which combined both contemporary and ecclesiastical references. Each home has been unified through a monumental oak stair, which spirals up the five levels of the house in a continuous ribbon. A pallet of fumed oak, rough cut Portland stone and seamless detailing, give the houses richness and gravitas, whilst still being domestic and everyday. In collaboration with John Smart & Guy Greenfield Architects
