Threefold Architects are currently working on the planning application for a new build family home within farm land for a live stock manager. The concept for our design has been inspired by both the historic boundary conditions that define the field patterns of the site. Our design looks to respond to the specific conditions, topography and character of the site to mitigate against any issues and harness its best aspects. We have chosen to utilise the sloping site in the architectural expression of the building and to present a low profile to the public road boundary. We have proposed an architecture with a heavy stone base that follows the topography of the site crowned by a sharp metal roof supported by an expressed prefabricated modular timber structure. A series of corn ditches, reaves and wall banks will define the domestic curtillage of the field with subtle landscape level changes.
