New Build
Creative Industries Centre , Glaisher Drive , Wolverhampton Science Park , WOLVERHAMPTON , West Midlands , WV10 9TG
When we first visited the site of this proposed barn conversion we were not sure if we had arrived at the current location. A planning principle of barn conversions is that the barn must be structurally capable of conversion. Our Client had bought the barn complete with structural report which affirmed the structural soundness of the building. However, what was not in doubt was the beauty of the location. The proposals sought to reinstate a lean-to cow shed to increase the floor area of the dwelling. It was therefore necessary to persuade the authorities of the historical existence of the lean-to to make the internal layout work. After a protracted planning process, it was accepted that the barn was suitable for conversion and work commenced. Now complete, the barn has undergone quite a transformation. Utilising local stone and locally sourced oak cladding the completed conversion refers to the architectural language of the original building and sits well within its rural context.
