The Centre is run by a charitable organization, and includes and Fair Trade shop and Café. The overall works were to undertake a re-ordering and renovation scheme. This had to be undertaken in phases, ensuring the continued use of the building throughout. The works included improving the buildings thermal efficiency, by lining the external walls with insulation, installing secondary glazing and heat zoning systems, along with a heat recovery unit. A new folding partition was added across the main hall, creating two separate spaces and modern kitchen facilities were also installed. Structurally the building remains unchanged, but it has a lighter and more open feel to it. Most of the original materials and features remain, but these works ensure the buildings longevity as well as improving the local amenities. This building was nominated for the RICS Building Conservation Awards 2011.
